She\r\nwas conferred the Award by <strong>Dr. Harsh Vardhan,&nbsp;<\/strong> Minister of Health\r\nand Family Welfare, Government of India and <strong>Dr. Balram Bhargava,<\/strong>\r\nDirector General (DG), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).&nbsp;The\r\nShakuntala Amir Chand Prize recognizing significant contributions to Biomedical\r\nSciences by young scientists was instituted by (late) Major General Amir Chand\r\nin 1953. This award is presented for the best published research work in the\r\nfield of Biomedical Science including clinical research. Dr. Anjana was awarded\r\nfor her research work in \u2018 <strong><em>Epidemiology of Diabetes and its risk factors\r\nin India<\/em><\/strong>\u2019.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Commenting on the occasion Dr. R M Anjana\r\nsaid,\u201c&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;I am very humbled to receive this prestigious\r\naward from ICMR and I thank my whole team from MDRF and DMDSC for all their\r\nsupport. \u201c&nbsp; Dr. Anjana has been a great\r\nchampion and a pioneer in the subject of Lifestyle Diabetes along with having\r\nachieved laurels for her path breaking research in the field of Diabetology\r\nright from her college days. She pioneered a concept of a high intensity\r\nexercise suitable for adolescents in India using Bollywood dance called&nbsp; \u2018THANDAV\u2019\r\n(Taking HIIT And Dance to Adolescents for Victory) which has won worldwide\r\nappreciation . She has also contributed to several studies on Gestational\r\nDiabetes Mellitus. Her most important contribution has been overseeing the\r\nlargest epidemiological study on Diabetes called as the \u2018ICMR-India Diabetes\r\nINDIAB Study\u2019 which had produced authentic data on the prevalence of Diabetes,\r\nHypertension, Dyslipidemia and Obesity in the whole country.&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With over 210 research\r\npapers being published having attracted over 23,000 citations with a H-index of 46, Dr. Anjana\u2019s work has\r\nbeen recognized&nbsp;by several national and international bodies.She has also\r\nbeen conferred Fellowships by all the three Royal Colleges of UK namely FRCP\r\nLondon, Glasgow and Edinburgh and also the Fellowship of American College of\r\nPhysicians.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>About Dr.\r\nMohan\u2019s Diabetes Specialties Centre:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Mohan\u2019s Diabetes Specialties Centre is a\r\ndiabetes speciality chain founded in the year 1991 headquartered in Chennai,\r\nTamil Nadu.
