During this time, a woman\u2019s body undergoes several hormonal and metabolic changes. One important health condition that is now being identified earlier than before, based on our research is <strong>Early Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (eGDM).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Understanding eGDM, its risks and the importance of early screening can help ensure a safe pregnancy, healthy delivery and long-term wellbeing for both mother and child.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What is Early Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (eGDM)?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Conventionally, Gestational diabetes or GDM is diagnosed between <strong>24 and 28 weeks of pregnancy.<\/strong> However, when elevated blood sugar levels are detected <strong>in early pregnancy, typically before 20 weeks,<\/strong> it is known as <strong>Early Gestational Diabetes Mellitus. GDM diagnosed at 24\u201328 weeks of pregnancy is referred to as late GDM.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This condition indicates that the body is finding it difficult to handle glucose even in the early stages of pregnancy. It may not always mean pre-existing diabetes, but it is a <strong>strong metabolic warning sign<\/strong> that requires timely medical attention.<\/p>\n<p>Early diagnosis allows doctors to start treatment sooner and reduce the risk of pregnancy complications.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why Early Gestational Diabetes is Increasing?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>India has one of the highest numbers of people living with diabetes.
